Chuck LaFrano became a bodyworker in 1985, led to the field in response to his own back pain. He graduated from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy in April of 1987. His continuing education consists of 8 Ortho-bionomy clinics, including a one day intensive with its founder Arthur Lincoln Pauls; a five day manual lymphatic drainage class; a sportsmassage clinic; two Trager Method clinics taught by Job’s Body author Deane Juhan; a craniosacral clinic in the Upledger tradition; Ashiatsu Bar Therapy; as well as many one day clinics. Chuck began teaching at Wellness and Massage Training Institute when it opened in September of 1989 and is currently teaching there. His classes include basic and advanced Swedish, sportsmassage, mobilization techniques, myofascial massage, physiology for bodyworkers, and integrative studies. Advanced education classes he has designed include advanced pressure techniques, floating joint, ScarTissue massage, structural patterns, and a philosophical class focused around presence, energy, and intention. “ScarTissue Massage”, an article he authored, was published in the May/June 2001 issue of Massage Magazine. Chuck was a guest instructor at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy where he taught the ScarTissue massage course. He also organized and taught a 22 hour, seven day massage class in Jamaica, and did it on 4 separate occasions. Chuck managed the massage department at the Heartland Health and Fitness Retreat in Gilman, Illinois from July of 1987 to July of 1989. He headed a massage team for the Chicago Bears football team for seven seasons, 1991-1997. He directed massage at the Grothman Chiropractic Clinic for 5 ½ years. Throughout, he has maintained a private practice. CHUCK'S PRIVATE PRACTICE
A PERSONAL NOTE FROM CHUCK LAFRANO: Previously I have taught at the Wellness and Massage Training Institute, an excellent school that was dedicated to sound, basic and advanced massage principles. In my new endeavor here, working in the Continuing Education realm with licensed and established massage therapists, we can focus on advanced massage therapy concepts and techniques, and explore them at a higher, broader level and a deep intensity. My goal and my passion are to make each of the classes intriguing, fascinating, highly informative, entertaining, and, foremost, instantly applicable to participants’ practices and clients. Julie, who is well-versed in all these techniques, and I will be sure each and every participant understands the concepts behind the courses, and is able to competently perform all techniques. Join our journey into new realms within the infinite universe of massage therapy.
Chuck is an approved provider through the NCBTMB and State. |
